Google launches Springboard, an AI-powered assistant for its enterprise customers

Google has unwrapped two significant announcements for its enterprise customers, the most notable of which is the rollout of Springboard, a new digital assistant to help enterprise companies that make use of Google’s services for business.

Springboard, which has been in testing with “a small set of customers,” is a little like Google Now for enterprise workers. That’s to say that it offer a single search interface which utilises artificial intelligence to surface information within a user’s suite of Google products — such as Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Google Docs and more. That’s important because, according to Prabhakar Raghavan, VP of Engineering for Google Apps, “the average knowledge worker [currently] spends the equivalent of one full day a week searching for and gathering information.”

Beyond search, Springboard also provides “useful and actionable information and recommendations” to users throughout their work day.

The second side of today’s news is a new design for Google Sites, a product that acts like an information portal for housing internal company information like quarterly reports, or newsletters. Now, when designing a Google Site, users have drag and drop editing and real-time collaboration, creation features that have become standard in other services like Google Docs and Google Sheets.

Finally, in terms of presentation, Google Sites has been revamped so that the content fits to any kind of screen, be it a smartphone, laptop or 30-inch monitor.

These changes are rolling out to early adopter programs that existing Google Apps for Work customer can join — the Springboard program is here and Google Sites program is here — while the search giant has teased that it has “a lot more in store” for both services.

Google ha reso disponibile Motion Stills su iOS, applicazione gratuita per la creazione di Gif sfruttando le Live Photos di iOS.

Si dice che un’immagine vale più di mille parole, allora una Gif vale più di mille immagini. E Google questo lo sa bene, infatti ha reso disponibile Motion Stills per iOS, un’applicazione gratuita che permette di trasformare le Live Photos di iOS in brevi animazioni in loop da condividere comodamente online.

Motion Stills è dotata di particolare strumento software di stabilizzazione delle immagini, simile a quello già disponibile per YouTube. Secondo le recensioni degli utenti, i risultati sono più interessanti di quelli creati con l’applicazione Boomerang di Instagram, in quanto Motion Stills permette di dare più spazio alla creatività.

Ecco i pronostici degli Europei 2016 secondo Microsoft Bing

A pochi giorni dall’inizio di Europei 2016 Bing, il motore di ricerca di Microsoft, ha già intercettato la febbre calcistica ed elaborato i pronostici esclusivi sulle partite del campionato europeo.

La Francia batterà la Romania al calcio di inizio di venerdì 10 giugno? L’Italia arriverà in finale? I Pronostici di Bing scendono in campo e rivelano tutte le probabilità di vittoria: nella partita Francia- Romania vince la Francia per 1 goal di differenza, mentre l’Italia perde con il Belgio, ma batterà la Svezia e Irlanda. Sotto tutti i risultati e a breve anche su www.bing.it (basterà digitare “Euro 2016” o “Pronostici Europei 2016”).

Grazie infatti a strumenti social e di ricerca, Microsoft è in grado di offrire dei pronostici intelligenti sui vincitori dei singoli match e incoronare il calciatore più strategico in campo.

I Pronostici di Bing in passato sono già stati utilizzati per diversi tipi di eventi rivelando ad esempio l’esito di 15 dei 16 incontri a eliminazione diretta della Coppa del mondo FIFA 2014 con una precisione del 94%, o ancora i campioni di tennis maschile e femminile di Wimbledon 2015 con una precisione del 71%.

I pronostici delle competizioni sportive sono da sempre un tema che genera discussioni e curiosità: gli sport in generale sono tra le tematiche che più accendono l’interesse delle persone che si identificano nei vari atleti e fanno il tifo per la squadra del cuore, sperando di modificare i risultati in base alle loro superstizioni. Sicuramente nessuno crede che la popolarità sia un fattore determinante per vincere una competizione. Per questo tipo di previsioni Bing basa le sue analisi su un modello statistico che considera la forza della squadra, ma anche i risultati passati per valutare i fattori che hanno contribuito alla vittoria precedente (esempio il luogo, le condizioni metereologiche, il margine di vittoria et et.). Questi dati servono da base per un secondo modello che rappresenta l’indice di potenza, il ranking della squadra o il Rating Percentage Index per un determinato sport. Alla fine si aggiunge il fattore dato dall’attività web e il sentiment social che bilanciano la forza della squadra cercando di catturare informazioni in tempo reale come infortuni, sospensioni, dibattiti e cambi di formazione. Con le analisi di Bing è stato ad esempio scoperto che dopo aver aggiunto la cosiddetta saggezza del web la precisione nel pronostico cresce del 5%, un aumento rilevante quando si parla di match altamente competitivi.

E MAPPE DEL TIFO

Per dare la possibilità a ogni tifoso di seguire la propria squadra del cuore, Microsoft ha inoltre realizzato le Heat Map, sono delle mappe interattive in 3D che catturano attraverso le attività dei fan il grado e l’intensità del tifo nei vari Paesi Europei prima di ogni partita e dopo. Ad esempio dalle ore 19.00 di venerdì 10 giugno la mappa interattiva del TIFO mostrerà per il primo match Francia-Romania, quali Paesi europei vorranno veder vincere la Francia e quali invece la Romania.

Questo servizio è già stato sperimentato in precedenza da Microsoft durante la Coppa del Mondo di Cricket e qui è visibile il risultato. La grafica viene creata utilizzando i dati che provengono dalle ricerche sui social media, motori di ricerca, post nei forum e molto altro ancora per evidenziare su quale partita specifica gli utenti si esprimono.
